Here is a serious need! Face Masks!!

Here’s a thought!
There’s a need to make face masks … and groups perhaps in your area already heading up this project…(ie. 4H clubs). join them in this project. If not be there for your community and get it going. Contact your healthcare systems, nursing homes and businesses that are essential to staying open (grocery stores).. and ask what their needs are.
While the face mask offers only some safety it helps a bit.

Happy Spring GFWC MN Leaders,

Our district meetings are fast approaching. It’s an opportunity to celebrate, get together with Federation sisters, and listen to what your members have been doing and where are they going as clubs.

The last issue of LEADERSHIP SCOOP suggested the districts implement a 10 minute Mini LEADS Q. and A. session to gather information on what’s clubs are doing towards GFWC President Brock’s Seven Grand Initiatives (See below). You have forwarded your MLK Day activities and they have been forwarded to the GFWC Blog. Some have forwarded your Legislative Alert progress… continue signing up for this important alert. And many are working toward the other initiatives. What is your progress? What are your PLANS for the coming months/year?

You also have been asked to discuss redistricting. What are your concerns? What other suggestions do your members have? What excites you the most as you review the proposal?

As LEADERS please “Lead by example.” and be prepared to discuss at your upcoming district meetingsGFWC Int’l President Brock’s Seven Grand Initiatives.

District Presidents you are encouraged to implement a 10 minute MINI LEADS Q. and A. session during your upcoming district meeting. Goal is two-fold: 1. Continue to develop leaders by designating an upcoming leader to “lead” this Q. and A. session. 2. Gather info on how clubs are implementing the seven grand initiatives especially planting trees in April (or May) for National Arbor Day and GFWC’s Federation Day in April. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring the celebrations together. What better way to celebrate Federation Day than to plant trees in GFWC’s honor.

I look forward to your report on the progress of clubs on these Seven Grand Initiatives and I will forward this info to GFWC.

“Unity in Diversity” What your logo says

The Federation’s proud tradition of connecting with one another began in 1868 with founder Jane Cunningham Croly, a professional journalist from New York City. In 1889, the official motto became “Unity in Diversity” by Sorosis President, Ella Dietz Clymer at a meeting of 61 clubs. In 1892, a pin with the rising sun was chosen to identify each member. In 1920, International Prsident, Alice Ames Winter updated the member to what it is today. the logo illustrates the crusader’s shield, signifying enlightenment, emerging from the darkened world, represented by a black center,. The band encircling the center signifies eternity: a fully risen sun on a field of blue symbolizes purity. For constancy, bluesurrounds the letter GFWC and the motto “Unity in Diversity”
